Kerala’s total number of liver diseases increased by 33.3% in the three months to October-End, the state health department said.
The total number has risen to 4,834 in the state, compared to 1,931 cases recorded in the same period last year.
The department recorded 1,872 liver diseases in October last year, a jump of 33.9% from the previous month.
The rise is largely due to the growth of cases from malnutrition and other reasons.
Kerala has about 10 million people, according to the government, while the population is about 14 million.
