Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have its first female director, with Felicity Jones leading the film.

Jones, the only woman in the film’s entire cast, will take over the helm of the franchise as director, writer and producer, according to EW.

Jones is also the only person in the cast who has a female partner.

“The Force Awakens” is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2020.

Jones and the rest of the cast will make their feature film debut in the upcoming film, which is based on the novel by George Lucas.

Jones will be joined by director J.J. Abrams, who is also returning to the franchise.

The film is based off the popular Star Wars series by George and John Lucas.

“Star Wars: Episode VIII,” from Disney and Lucasfilm, is slated for release on Dec, 16, 2019.

The new film is set to explore the character of Kylo Ren, a young Jedi who has taken on a new identity, and his adventures in the Star Wars galaxy.
